New Year, New Outlook

Wow the holidays are over and here I am at the new year! Time flies. And like they say, the older you get the faster it goes! And how true. So, if time does fly by the best I can do is make the most of our time.

With the New Year I plan to have a New Outlook. Most of what I have seen lately has been from a positive attitude aspect. I vow to continue with such an attitude! It seems to me the only way to go.

A New Year and New Outlook is not a new concept, but a great way to start the year. An attitude of gratitude, be thankful for what you have and being positive is a great way to live.

One of the many reason I love visiting our home on the lake is we do not have cable TV!! Pretty primative! But one of the many great things about this is we don't spend a great deal of our time in front of the TV and all the negative news. I absolutely do not miss it! After returning from the lake this past week the fact that the negative press was missing from my life and the positive impact it had really came to my attention. Thus another reason for emphasizing the positive in life and focusing on a new way of thinking and approaching life.

Happy New Year. When we are given something new, we are given something with a lot of potential. It is up to us how we use that something new. Take the new year and make it the best. Have a great day.

Best Decision Ever Made

I was called by a local magazine the other day and while talking to the writer, she mentioned she was writing a column on - What was the best decision, or recent change you have made? Wow at 53 that is a difficult question to answer. After going thru so many stages of my life, how can you answer just one thing? There are so many things I have done that were the best decision. There are the classics; went to college, made career decisions, got married, had a child, moved, etc. How do you say what was best? Of course I don't want to downplay the most important people in my life and they not think everything I do concerning them is not important.

But at this point in my life, my decisions, I have to be honest, center more around me. I feel like I have given all I have to give to the others in my life. How many nights did I stay up late after everyone was asleep to pursue a little hobby etc? How many times did I go with out, either a item, event or luxury, so others could have? Sound familiar as a mother? I do not regret a thing, but I feel like now is my time, and I guess that is the best decision I have made, to put me first. And in many ways I don't, because I do so many things that others are still reaping a benefit from me and my work, but at least my days and nights are planned around what I want to do. And with each passing day there is less and and less guilt about putting me first. What a great feeling.

So at this time, starting the Bikinis and Bifocals business was my best decision or change. It was my dream and everything that evolves around it is what I want to do. How fun. My calendar is so full and it is 99% things I want to do, not events or things I have to do for someone else!

I have to admit, I can see more and more why many women make major career changes, or get divorced at this stage in life. The 50's are the greatest, it is freedom. It is the stage where decisions can be made for you, and the hell with everyone else. I can truly see why women at this stage stay the heck with a marriage that does not give them what they want. Is it that this age is the ultimate stage of freedom? Freedom from being responsible for others, freedom from guilt and the freedom to do what you want to do. Some women may not understand how I feel, but I think there are many out there that do.

Follow your dreams, it is never too late.

Am I ready for another change or something new?

Change is good and we need change. You would like those who are saying this lately with the political campaigns have just thought of a new item for thought. Well that idea as to change is good and people need change has been around for a long time.

I have been thinking about a change a lot lately. Every time I open a book, an email or a new website, I find myself reading something about life changes and being honest with ones self. Is someone trying to tell me something? It is a well know fact I am not happy in my day job. It is tough doing some things that you know are good and help others but then on the other hand it is difficult some days to get thru when you know that those in charge do not value what I have to give. Most days that is o.k., because I define me and my value, but so many days lately I feel like these last few months I have left there are such a waste of me and my time. I am really ready for a change. I love so many things I do, but don't like when people waste my time. Time is such a valuable thing and I Cherise mine each day.

I love Bikinis and Bifocals, http://www.bikinisandbifocals.com/ and what it is doing for other women, and the website and the exciting new things I am learning. I guess I just feel like I am in a holding stage and want out. Patience, and what is it I have to remind myself, delayed gratification is good. But sometimes a delay in moving out on my dreams and other things that I want to do is very difficult to hold back.

I love change, learning new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. Hmmm, perhaps there is something else out there for me to do for the next 23 months. Walk away, I would in a heartbeat; have patience and reap the rewards of all my hard work in 23 months, I think I can hold on just a little longer, but will keep my eyes open for something new all the same. Change is good!

Take the Leap and the Net Will Appear

I love this phrase. Kim and I recently attended a women's entrepreneur conference and one of the speakers said that this was something her mother always said to her. I have a phrase on my vision board that says "Take the first step. You don't have to know all the steps or path, just take the first step and the way will come".

I have to remind myself of this periodically about my goals etc, and this take the leap and the net will appear is great! I have so often told my children, what is the worse thing that can happen, the answer will either be yes or no. Whatever it is, you know what to do. Don't be afraid of what the answer might be, because there is a 50-50 chance the answer just may be YES!

At this age it is often difficult to forget about our weaknesses and our insecurities. But short phrases such as this one and others are ways to give yourself a pep talk just when the insecurities start to come in.

You know when take a risk and show others your courage, many times, many will step up and help you and be that net you need at the time.

Spring is a season of hope!

I abosolutely love spring. The air is so fresh, the flowers are popping up thru the soil (in places I forgot I had flowers) and everything seems so fresh and new. It is a season that gives me such hope.
The other day I was pulling out of my driveway and the sun was coming up and I could tell everything was different, it was spring instead of winter. That feeling and realization gave me a real boost for the day. Having that type of feeling and attitude for the day made such a great difference in my day. I thought about it and realized I needed to make an attempt to keep that attitude as my spring attitude - to renew, refresh and keep a positive outlook.
In fact, this is going to be my time to really kick in my "new year" resolutions. I have to be honest on some of the exercise aspects of my goals I have been lack. But spring has given my goals a better meaning. Plus I went swim suit shopping the other day and that really gives you a new perspective on things such as exercise! Yikes!!!
So today is a new day, I am waiting for my ipod to charge up so I can go for a long walk and start my spring off new and charged.
The winter is over, well almost anyway, and today is a new day, make the most of it.
Later today and this weekend I will be adding items on the http://www.bikinisandbifocals.com/ website that deal with new beginnings, spring cleaning etc.
