I for one do not think we need another government agency. I worked for the federal government for 35 years and know first hand another agency is not something this country needs. Some things the government needs to stay out of and people need to be responsible for themselves, not expect the government to take care of things. I think they have proven that is not the best route.
But you know, what I do think is the government could make themselves useful and outlaw some things that are just not right. Like for instance, all the different shades of black, navy etc there are in the fashion world. Is that not an injustice! Sometimes shopping to match something you would think as simple as navy pants or a jacket can be a nightmare. And at some point in your quest you may have to concede and acknowledge you will never find a match. Now there's something the government could put their teeth in!!! Help us most unfortunate when it comes to something like this. Plus from a GREEN standpoint, it would save a lot of time and energy!
I was recently shopping for some items to decorate my newest derby hat and realized how many different shades of hot pink there are! I love all the derby hats and enjoy decorating my hat myself. But while shopping yesterday I found myself wishing I had brought along the main flower I was using for the hat. I began doubting myself as to what shade of pink it was!!! We should not have to endure such hardships! Where is the government when you need them, what are they doing about this!
As many of you know, I love to put a different twist on things, my mind works in very strange ways. Just like my description on what "torture" really is. If you have not read that blog you should, it is time to shop for swim suits and that blog says it all.
Many probably thought, o.k., now Diane is going to really get political here. Sorry, just had a thought and went with it. Have a great day, looks at things differently today, and smile, laugh, it sure makes things better and may turn your day around.

Why is it some hot fashion items are for one body type?
Typically it seems most fashions look best on tall skinny women. Some styles look like they will only look good on someone 5'7" and 95 pounds. But the latest item must have been designed for the short woman in mind. I am talking about these short jackets with the short 3/4 sleeves.
They are so cute, but so many women I have seen wearing these look horrible. So short women, rejoice, the latest fashion trend is going to make you look great and better than the rest of us.
A woman at work had on one of the latest jackets the other day, it looked great, but she is shorter etc. So for once the fashion trend is not for tall pencil thin women, it is for a body type that most often gets overlooked when the latest trends come about. I am a tall woman, so most of these jackets do nothing for me. I just hope I can find a longer jacket this year.
I love fashion and love to shop for clothes. But I refuse to purchase something and wear it just because it is in style. It is sad when you see someone wear something that is the latest item, but it horrible on them. I know my limitations. So, for now I will leave these jackets for my shorter, petite friends and will envy them rather than they envy me this season.
Looking forward to some bright spring colors again!

They must be Noticing
Well, perhaps we baby boomer women are making an impact after. Actually, I had no doubt we would, after all we have changed so many aspects of society as we have progressed through life.
But the element I am talking about today is the clothing market. I had a couple conversations this past week that highlighted that we as baby boomer women have a voice and it is being heard. A friend of mine mentioned to me that Victoria Secret was changing its marketing approach, because it has lost of our generation's sales. Well, I like their product, but she is right so much of it is just too way out there for me. I want something I can wear and use. Well, I guess they finally figured it out that it is the baby boomer women who made them rich. Not our young daughters. Most of us have been purchasing their items for them from Victoria Secret as well.
Another conversation I had was with my daughter. She mentioned that several stores she once liked to shop virtually has no junior department at all now. Gradually it has gotten smaller and smaller. Well, I thought, I guess those stores have realized what generation has been purchasing their clothes, my generation. I somewhat felt sorry for my daughter, but felt a victory for women of my generation.
As we say at Bikinis and Bifocals, we want to feel good, look good and live a great life. PLUS we want a variety of nice clothes that make us look current, not foolish, and look stylish and great. It is nice to have more and more to choose from. It is also great to know the market is paying attention.
My next concern are those short jackets, with the cropped off sleeves, but that is another blog.
Have a great day.
