Your thoughts create your life!

"Your thoughts create your life" I love this phrase. It says so much. As I reflect back on my life I realize just how true it is. So many times in my marriage, work etc I thought too often on the negative and guess what I got in return? Negative events. Now that I reflect more on this phrase and its meaning, my days go much better and life is wonderful. Oh how much I wish we could teach our young children just how important positive attitude is. Make the most of everything and every moment.

I knew I had succeeded in this with my daughter when she had returned from a week at summer camp. Of course I worried about her the entire week while she was away from the protection of MOM, but I also wondered if she was having a good time at camp due to the fact it rained most of the week.

When she returned she was full of stories and energy from her fun at camp. After a full day of stories and sharing events and how she made various crafts etc, I finally asked her, "Melanie, did it rain while you were at camp this week?" She answer, oh, yes, it did a couple times. And went on and told me another story of what happended that week, never mentioning rain or how it even impacted her week! Wow, I thought, perhaps I have succeed in some way with this child in that she does not equate her good time based on certain criteria, she has fun and that's that. Some children I know would have let the rain determine their mood, the day etc. But not my Melanie, she had a great time and rain was part of it!!! I love this child, she enjoys life and she only lets good thoughts create her life. If she had believed that rain ruins an event, she would have let her thoughts ruin her week at camp. But no, she believed that camp was fun, and it was!

My best friend and I recently made an agreement with one another, if either of us starts on a negative rant about something, we are to just say "yes, your thoughts create your life" and leave it at that. Hopefully it will move us out of the negative and move to the positive thought processes. Or, sometimes, when I am alone and find myself thinking something negative about the future or an event, perhaps I should just say the name "Melanie" and remember how she views life!

Have a great day, mine is going to be great, it has been so far in my thoughts for the day!
