Louisville, Kentucky, is a great city

Today is Thunder over Louisville. For those of you who have never seen this, it is the greatest fireworks show - ever. I have been several years and every time I have attended, I have loved the show and been very proud of this city.

Sure, it is a festival with cheap food, crowds, and long hours waiting. But it is so much fun to watch and well worth the wait.

This is the beginning of the Derby Festival. Three weeks of fun leading up the the Kentucky Derby. What fun, so much to do, not enough time to attend it all. It is a great way to find out what Louisville is all about. Southern hospitality.

Not long ago I visited a north east city, I won't mention the name, but while at an event I could not get over how rude and unfriendly people were. My friend and I said we just expect southern hospitality everywhere. But we found that not everyplace is as friendly as Louisville.

I have had so many people tell me over the years how friendly everyone is here. I think we all take it for granted. In my neighborhood everyone waves at every car that drives by. It is great that people are so friendly. There have been days I did not wave and felt as if I had committed a crime.

I hope all who came out in the cold weather this year enjoy the show and the people of Louisville, Kentucky.
