Why is it when I have plenty of time, it seems I don't have enough time! Some know this but I just retired from a full time management career after 35 years! Oh, boy does it feel good.
When I tell people this news about myself, the typical remark is "What are you going to do"? Well having something to do has never been a problem for me, in fact, I typically have too much to do. At first as I start this new stage I would like to do "nothing". But for me that does not mean just sitting around and watching TV, it means doing things at a more leisurely pace for a while.
This week I have been out of town with my husband on a business trip. This is the first time I have had the luxury to travel with him and just do "NOTHING". It has been great, to exercise every morning and do the tourist thing.
Many I have encountered this week have asked are you in a hurry? And I just answer NO, I am in no hurry at all! What a great feeling. But the funny thing is, I have so much time each day, but the day seems to go by much too fast and I don't seem to be able to get all I want to get accomplished each day. It seems so funny to me, that I have all the time in the world but not enough time still to get what I want to get done!!!! No matter what you are doing in your life or involved in or not in, we all only have 24 hours in a day.
The one thing I have learned over the years, is in those limited amount of hours we have each day is to fill it up with as much as possible. Have fun, do things for others and do things for yourself. I know that the more I have to do each day the more I seem to get accomplished. Soo, in doing the nothing thing for a while, I should be able to get a great deal accomplished! Have a great day!
