We are a Group that is Forgotten

More and more each day I am so convinced Kim and I did the right thing creating Bikinis and Bifocals. I just wish I had more time to devote to this and what we stand for. It seems so many days that we are a group, women in our 50's who are totally forgotten by so many.

I was watching TV the other day and they mentioned a product for 50 and over and the next scene was a couple who were older than baby boomers, probably late 70's, very gray etc. They were not what I view as over 50! Then you look at magazines, TV etc and everyone else is 20! I feel like we are a lost group, not really with an identify. We are no longer staying up late at night like we did in our 20's and 30's, but we are not to the point of assisted living either!

It is rather frustrating, I feel like some are saying, act your age, but what is that? It sure isn't sack dresses and frumpy lifestyle for me. Nor is it for many women I know who are in their late 40's, 50's and into their 60's. We are still working, very, very active and look great.

I love a magazine called MORE. I have met women who have not heard of it. I tell them, it is among all the magazines for the 20 somethings, but it focuses on women over 40. It is great and it has a great deal of info for women in our age group. Thanks for recognizing what we need etc.

It seems that those of us in our late 40's and in our 50's avoid events etc for seniors until we are well into our late 60s. We are a group that does not want to be viewed as old. You know oftentimes there is a very negative attitude that can go along with being "old" and there are many of us who want to avoid anything negative. It can suck you in, and many of us will avoid those who have negative attitudes about life, health etc.

I love doing things with my younger friends. They have such energy and I can just watch while they are living thru life's events that I am now over, it is great. So why can't there be a category for us in society. Well I guess there is now, it is the Bikinis and Bifocals stage. I don't know about you, but I like my sleep and I don't need any assistance. I want to have a great time and not be viewed as old. Whew, sorry, that was my soapbox time today.

Have fun, enjoy the great weather, and smile, life at this age is GREAT.
