You know, I like the idea of being concerned about the environment. I started the GO Green section on our website bikinisandbifocals to just give women a few suggestions on doing something that will help the environment. Anything a person does is a help. Use less plastic bags, plastic water bottles, chemicals etc. It seems over the past few years we have somewhat forgotten about the planet.
But the latest thing I thought was good is the eco totes. You know the cheap cloth, or cloth like (is that eco) bags you see everywhere for purchase to use instead of having your purchases put in plastic bags. I have seen these in many groceries and department stores for 99cents. I think it is a great gesture that stores want to make a difference by offering something so cheap.
So since I thought this was a good idea, I went looking on the internet the other day to look for totes etc to put on our site for our readers info. Well, it seems everyone is getting in on the show. There were even “eco totes” that were designer eco totes for hundreds of dollars!! Are they kidding? Some were cheap bags for a high price. So if you see something that is less than a buck and will serve your purpose, buy it. If you avoid using plastic bags, and reuse something that is so cheap, it has to be good for the environment and your pocket book as well. The only thing that appeared to be eco friendly about that designer bag was the color, it was green. I didn’t care for the look, and shouldn’t eco friendly also be eye friendly?
GO GREEN, small steps are steps in the right direction.
